Franchise History
The Chennai Super Kings franchise is owned by Indian Cements, who paid $91 million to acquire the rights of the franchise for the next 10 years. Former India test player Kris Srikkanth is the brand ambassador for the franchise, and another former Indian opener V. B. Chandrasekhar will be the chief selector.
The city of Chennai, formerly Madras boasts of India's most knowledgeable and sportive cricketing crowd. The standing ovation given to the visiting Pakistani team after a thrilling test match win over India are a testament to the sporting culture of this coastal metropolis.
The MAC (M.A.Chidambaram) as it is affectionately called by cricket lovers in the city will be their home ground.
